About the Chris Reeves Scholarship

The Chris Reeves Scholarship for Instrumentation & Functional Safety was created to honor the career and contributions of Chris Reeves, with over 30 years in instrumentation, electrical systems, and functional safety exemplify dedication, leadership, and technical excellence.

Chris began his career in instrumentation in 1992, working in pharmaceutical plants, refineries, gas, and chemical facilities. Over the years, he advanced from technician roles to supervisor and subject matter expert positions, managing teams, guiding major turnarounds, and helping develop best practices in reliability and safety. In 2017, he shifted his focus to Functional Safety, co-authoring the KAES Functional Safety Program and leading initiatives to improve compliance, safety culture, and collaboration across sites. Today, as Functional Safety Manager, he continues to mentor others and foster innovation in safety and reliability.

The scholarship reflects Chris’s passion for helping the next generation succeed. Each year, it supports students pursuing Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Technology (or related programs) at Texas institutions such as Houston Community College, Lee College, TSTC, UHD, and others. Special consideration is given to students with financial need, ensuring the award empowers those who need it most.

By investing in students who share Chris’s passion for instrumentation and safety, the scholarship carries forward his legacy of mentorship, technical skill, and commitment to excellence.
